- I assume that by WWW server, you mean HTTP server.
- There are currently three HTTP servers for the Amiga.
-
- 1) NCSA httpd 1.05. Freeware. Works fine, although it is *very* slow.
- I wouldn't try CGI scripts on it, though, it seems to use global
- environment variables for the CGI scripts -> trouble if you have more
- than one request handled by a CGI script.
- NCSA httpd is not being developed for the Amiga any more.
- Look at ftp://ftp.omnipresence.com/pub/amiga/amosaic/
-
- 2) AWS. Freeware. Written for the Amiga. Much faster than NCSA httpd,
- but doesn't automatically generate directory listings. It has no problems
- with CGI scripts as it uses local environment variables.
- AWS is being developed by Mike Meyer from Omnipresence, last release is
- version 1.0, and there is a 2.0 beta 2.
- I've used AWS versions from 0.96 and up, and I can recommend AWS.
- Look at http://www.phone.net/aws/
-
- There is a mailing list for AWS at aws@contessa.phone.net. Send
- subscription requests to aws-request@contessa.phone.net
-
- 3) Aserve. Commercial version of AWS. It is currently at version 0.4.
- It has not yet been released (but some people may have noticed, that
- it is already being used at some WWW sites).
